I Started A Bullet Journal!

what is a bullet journal?

From the creator himself, “The Bullet Journal is a customizable and forgiving organization system. It can be your to-do list, sketchbook, notebook, and diary, but most likely, it will be all of the above. It will teach you to do more with less.” A bullet journal is a way to organize your ideas and organize your life from to-do lists, calendars, and habit trackers!

how do you start a bullet journal?

First, you’ll need to buy the appropriate notebook. I bought mine from Michael’s for only $6.99 and I had a 40% off coupon on top of that! Literally so cheap!

Next, you’ll need ultra thin pens that won’t bleed through the paper. I recommend these from Michael’s!

Finally, you’ll need some IDEAS! How do you want to make your life easier? What do you want in your journal?

For me, this was one of the hardest parts. I’ve seen so many blogger start bullet journals but I just never knew where or how to start. What would I even write about? After spending an entire afternoon on Pinterest, I found some cool ideas that I wanted to incorporate into my journal!

My biggest piece of advice is using a pencil first before any pen is put on paper. I tend to mess up a lot and a few girls on Twitter gave me the advice of using pencil first. If you don’t like the way it looks you can instantly erase and try again!

my bullet journal ideas!

  1. I love those pens!!! You’re going to loooove bullet journaling when school comes around — if you choose to incorporate the style into your note taking. It makes them super neat and a lot easier to read (but I have sloppy notes to begin with) XD I love your little cupcakes, they’re so cute!! I have a bullet journal that I sit down with at the beginning of every month and set a ton of goals (financial, spiritual, emotional, etc) and it helps to orient myself when I get overwhelmed with life. Plus it is forgiving in the sense that you don’t have to be perfect 🙂 just have fun with it!! Glad you’re enjoying it 🙂

    1. AHH Amber! I absolutely LOVE the idea of setting goals for the month! Good for you! I’m definitely gonna start that! Thanks girl <3

  2. I keep telling myself I’m going to start a bullet journal and never do! You got a deal at Michael’s on the book and it’s really cute!

    1. Right? If you sign up to get emails from Michael’s I think they give you a 40% off coupon so its definitely worth it!

  3. I have a bullet journal (I’m creating mine in a different sense) and it’s currently in the works! I’m starting January now and hoping to finish the rest of the school year by the end of this month!

The hardest thing was starting and laying out all the ideas and inspiration I found to fit me so I can use it without being too crazy.

    1. That’s awesome Jade! I completely agree that finding what works for you and represents you is the hardest part! Definitely the fun part though!

  4. I have seen so many blogger using these and I think I really want to try it out for myself, expect I’m not very create when it comes to putting together the entire design for layouts. Would love to see an updated version of your book, I think this is super interesting.

    1. Thanks Meg! I don’t consider myself very creative either so Pinterest has been my go-to. I find an idea on there and then tweak it to my liking. Hope that helps!
