My fall semester of my second year of college is finally over and it feels so good, am I right? This semester was probably the toughest yet because I had so much going on. I am grateful that I was still able to keep my grades up and make everlasting friendships in the meantime (you can see my sorority post here).
Just a few days ago, my best friend came up to New Jersey from Florida to spend some time with me. We had both finished finals and wanted to hangout before the holidays. Shout out to my friend Leila for traveling 1,000 plus miles to see me!
Anyway, Leila was here in the New York City area for four days and we wanted to make the most out of her trip. Two out of the four days we decided to head over to Manhattan to adventure, as we usually do when she’s around. On this particular day, we visited so many places and had so much fun! I vlogged some of it (MY FIRST VLOG EVER) so you can check it out below!
On Monday, December 19th, my dad drove Leila and I to Manhattan from my home in New Jersey. He dropped us off at 23rd Street and 2nd Avenue. We walked a few blocks until we arrived at the Flat Iron Building, a must-see when traveling to the Big Apple. Across the street from this awesome building, were hammocks. We lounged around for a little while, taking pictures and having fun while doing it! We slowly made our way to EATALY!
If you guys haven’t heard about EATALY, it’s an Italian market… a huge Italian market. They sell everything from fruits & veggies, to all sorts of cheeses, breads, pastas, meats, and seafood. They also have a restaurant with loads of pasta and chicken dishes. My favorite part about EATALY is the Nutella station. This place serves Nutella with EVERYTHING! We ordered a waffle with Nutella, fruits with Nutella, and a croissant stuffed with Nutella. After trying this, you’ll realize it was worth the money and your time!
one world observatory
The One World Observatory is located where the Twin Towers once stood. This building is an honor to our country and those who serve. It was so beautiful to go to the 9/11 Memorial and take in the sites. It was my first time and definitely not my last. If you get a chance, I would highly recommend going and seeing the foundations. If you decide to go up to the observatory, which is over 1,000 feet high, you will see a beautiful view of New York City. I went at night and the lights were absolutely amazing!
the brooklyn bridge
It may have been under 30 degrees, but we walked The Brooklyn Bridge anyway. I am so glad we did. The skyline looked beautiful and the pictures turned out great. You feel like you’re on top of the world. I really suggest walking The Brooklyn Bridge, maybe in warmer weather though!
grimaldi’s pizzeria – brooklyn
Grimaldi’s Pizzeria is a very famous pizzeria located in Brooklyn on 1 Front Street (got lost getting there both on a car and by walking so just be careful). The pizza was thin crusted and you could add additional toppings for a few dollars extra. We got the small size pizza, which was 6 slices and it was just enough to fill us up without overeating. Overall, the pizza was good and definitely worth a try if you’re in the neighborhood.
All in all, it was a great day and we accomplished so much. All these places were a first for me and I’m so glad I got to experience them, especially with such a good friend. If you get the chance, I really suggest these tourist spots!
