A hike, a walk for a long distance, especially across country or in the woods. Check that off my bucket list: HIKING!!!
I went on my first hiking experience last week. What I thought the hike would be like and what it really was, happened to be two completely different things. Lets just put it like this, I thought it was going to be a nice stroll at Palisades Interstate Park. I heard, through many Instagram posts, how beautiful the landscape is and the pretty views of the Hudson River.
To my surprise, the hike was difficult for me. I had never been on one before and I was expecting to have a nice walk with my friend, Carolina. (She drove all the way up from Central Jersey to see me so shoutout to you girl!!) Instead of a nice stroll, the hike consisted of STAIRS!!! TONS AND TONS OF STAIRS!!! Walking down the stairs wasn’t so bad, but after two hours of hiking, trying to get up the stairs was a different story. In addition, the terrain was just not as flat as we thought it would be. It’s alright because I burned TONS of calories that day!!
Of course, the sight was beautiful. We decided to go on the trail along the shoreline so the pictures turned out amazing. The day was hot yet pretty and there were no other hikers around us, which made the experience more personal and unique for me.
If you’re an avid hiker than I completely suggest this hiking spot in New Jersey. However, it is definitely not a beginner hike, which I learned the hard way. Not to mention, I put too much stuff in my backpack which made it harder to continue with all the weight on my shoulders, I didn’t take enough food or water, and I didn’t wear the most comfortable shoes.
All in all, hiking wasn’t what I expected but it was definitely a great experience. Being so in touch with nature is amazing and breathtaking. I just don’t think I was prepared for how difficult it would be. As a result of this experience, I learned I definitely need to hit the gym because I need to work harder and increase my stamina. This girl is out of shape you guys.
I hope you enjoyed these beautiful picture from my first hike! Let me know about your hiking experiences!
